No passion in the world is equal to the passion to alter someone else’s draft.
(H.G. Wells)

Sometimes a writer gets too close to his or her material and needs an impartial set of eyes to review what's been produced. I can read through your manuscript and prepare a detailed critique. (Please only send complete works for critiquing -- it's hard to give useful feedback on excerpted chapters or scenes.)

My critiques tend to run about 10-12 pages for longer works, about half that length for shorter works . After doing an overall read-through to check writing mechanics and prose style, I then review the following elements for fictive works, such as novels, stories, and stage plays and screenplays (this list is by no means exhaustive):

For works of what are usually called exposition (such as memoranda, reports, essays, non-fiction books, and so on), I check the following (again, this list is not exhaustive):

Finally, I suggest what steps you might take and resources to consult.
